Week 15, Day 3

Day 2 was completed hardwood floors in the master bedroom.  Check!

And here's our bathroom vanity!  I love the mirrors and sconces so much I can hardly stand it!  There was supposed to be just one huge rectangular mirror with light fixtures above it, but I went out on a limb and shot for this.  Yay!

The master closet has hardwood floors, too! I am hoping the new water heater in the back left corner is soon to come!
I think I've posted this before, but this may have been the blurry photo.  J.T. and I continue to be in awe of this new fireplace/mantel thing, and it just really looks quite satisfactory!
Week 15, Day 1.  Let there be light! And flooring!

The hardwood floors have begun! The master bedroom is first.  They are pre-finished wood floors that lock together (no nail!).

And we have light!  We knew the electricity worked, because the AC works, but the lights had not been functioning yet.  Now we have operational lights and ceiling fans throughout!
Week 14, Day 4 (backtrack with me!)

I've had the pictures, but not the time to post.  Here we go!

This may look like a boring old ceiling, but the recessed lights are now finished, and the trimwork is all coming together. And a ceiling fan!

More finished recessed lights! And another fan!

The bathroom vanity... I pulled back the cloth cover to show a hint of the countertop, and check out those sconces!

Week 14, Day 3

Onward and upward!

There are still covers on the glass panes, but now all four french door panels are installed between the dining room and new family room.  Fancy pants!

A view of the shower from a few steps back.

The new shower floor with a lighter gray tile!
Week 14, Days 1 & 2

We were away these two days, so we had a little catching up to do upon our return.  Loving the progress at this stage of the game!

Photography fail - sorry for the blurriness!  But, check out the doors on our cabinets!

The previously mentioned cubby cabinetry inside the entryway.  Now we shouldn't have any excuses for clutter in the entryway!

Shower tile!  It is a work in progress, so excuse the construction tools still in there.

Another view of the shower tiles, but this is to the left inside the door - our bench!

Bathroom/shower tiles on the tub 'decking.'

Week 13 continues...

I've had these pictures a day or two, but lost track of time in posting them. And they're so exciting - I can't believe I've let them sit unposted!

You've seen the bedroom windows before, but now the walls around them have color!

Another bathroom floor pic - this one I took, and there's grout, which I think is different than the previous tile pic.  Now there is also tile around the bathtub 'decking,' but I don't have a picture of that.

The work zone that is our shower-to-be. Serious work!  Keep out!

The family room: It's yellow! It has cabinetry! The yellow looks a bit more pastel/lemon in this pic than I think it does in person, but I still love it!  The cabinets will have doors on the bottom half.

Same room, just a view slightly to the left of the previous picture so you can see the entryway from the carport and that additional L-shaped cabinet piece.  There's going to be another, slightly smaller, cabinet piece added that faces the doorway for storage for the entryway (think bookbags, reusable shopping bags, etc).

Week 13 Day 2

Big move in the bathroom, and the fireplace is coming together!

Bathroom floor tile!  This tile selection was a pain in the $%&, so this better look good!

The fireplace without being shrouded in mystery.  The mantle is going up!

A pirate in rain boots (when it's not raining) hanging out in 'his' truck.  Been a hard day's work!
Week 13 starts with a bang!  We are off and running!

Bathroom cabinetry! This is the linen cabinet that sits on the wall between the shower and toilet room.  The bottom will have shelves with doors, and the top half will be open shelving.

Bathroom vanity!  Clearly incomplete, but so pretty and exciting!

The tub decking is getting enclosed...

Throughout the addition our light switches and outlets are starting to look legit!

The massive pile of 'gear' to be installed.  Included are light fixtures, ceiling fans, bathroom tiles, etc. It's happening fast!

Vacation recap

Nothing to do with the construction project, but thought readers (aka Popop) might want to see a few vacation pictures.  It is easiest to post/share them here!

First things first - DISNEY!

On the way in to Disney, first thing in the morning, we realized we could pull over and check out the Disney racetrack. Daddy and Jay were very interested!

Our first stop once inside was the racecar ride! Yes, Jay got to drive, but the passenger had to press the gas.  Jay rode this three times that day!

Daddy and Jay in the (purple) teacup ride at Disney. Jay rode this 4 times!
After our first time on the Buzz ride, guess who was waiting outside to shake hands?!

Some carousel calm.

Playing with hats during our afternoon ice cream break.

Mommy and Jay and Cinderella's castle!
Daddy and Jay and Cinderella's castle!
Look what we brought home for Charlotte!

When not at Disney (just for a day) or swimming (all the time), we were at a playground!

One of the days we managed to get her into pigtails to help tame that hair!

Charlotte loved playing on the steps of the pool(s) - she would dunk herself, and jump back up.  She's ready to swim!

She also had a bucket of kitchen items that became pool toys. So much fun for her!
Our swimming superstars sidetracked by a poolside ping-pong game.
Here comes our newest swimmer!

Snack time on the floor.

There are lots of duck ponds where we stayed, and the ducks would walk right up to you as soon you showed up, begging for food. The kids figured out that they could feed them, then chase them back into the pond! Charlotte really enjoyed yelling "No duckies! Back in water!"

Ice cream with Daddy

Ice cream!

Recap, plus one.

I forgot one other major accomplishment from last week.  The exterior of the house is painted!  The corners and edges have yet to be done, but the major surface areas are covered, and the paint match to our existing color looks great!

Week 12 Recap

Recap of what, you might ask?  Well, of the whole week!  We went on vacation to Orlando for the week of July 4, and the work crew was busy while we were away.  It is fun to see the strides forward they made while we were gone!

The bathtub now has more complete 'decking' around it.

The shower floor is being prepared for tile.

Charlotte likes to hide in the toilet room.
Jay showcases the new doors attached throughout.

Looking up, this is an example of the new vent covers installed, as well as the intake vent cover.

Sneak peek of the fireplace hearth!

These are the windows in the master bedroom - what nice daylight streaming in, and a super green backyard view! Yes, those blue paint samples are our wall color for the master bedroom.

The wall between the new family room and the existing dining room has been cut!  It's all covered in plastic, obviously, but this is the view, with 2 of the 4 french door panels, from the family room.  Yes, those yellow paint splotches are our wall color.

This is the view of the wall, or lack thereof, from inside the current dining room.  There's a LOT of plastic in there!
